Monty Roberts and a team from Intelligent Horsemanship recently came to the yard. The event was organised by RNRMRS Committee in conjunction with Help for Heroes. Monty and his team worked with a number of serving and veteran military personnel.
The yard, staff and horses hosted Monty and his instructors, during which time they demonstrated Monty Roberts’ famous “Join-Up” method. All the participants got the opportunity to work one-to-one with the horses under the personal supervision of Monty and his team. Most of those participating had no previous experience of handling horses, and once they had overcome their initial apprehension of working so closely with such large animals, they found it a rewarding, emotional and an enjoyable experience. Monty Roberts is famous world-wide for his non-violent and effective methods, and regularly comes to the UK to give public demonstrations and work with Her Majesty the Queen's horses.
Monty is a keen supporter of the Armed Forces and gave his time, experience and knowledge free of charge. All involved found the event extremely successful, with some very positive outcomes for the service personnel involved and it is hoped that RNRMRS is to hold future events with Monty and his team, again.
